Average Real Estate Prices in Canada

I have heard people talk about Canadian real estate a lot this past year and most of it has been complaining. That is because I live on the west coast where housing prices are more expensive than any where else in this beautiful country. Even with all this talk I have never really seen any statistics on how much more expensive places like Vancouver are in comparison to the rest of Canada. So when we were told to make an infographic for school I figured that it would be the perfect opportunity to educate myself on the current state of Canadian real estate. The results were actually surprising. According to the stats I found I am living in a region that is more than double the average house price in Canada and more than double 14 out of 17 other major cities in Canada!

Shopping Local

Having worked at a local farmer's market for several years, I was wondering how much people actually care about buying local foods. With the push more and more these days for supporting your local farmers rather than the big box stores, why is it that we care about buying local foods? I also wondered with the push to reduce plastic bags winding up in a landfill, how many people are actually making the effort to bring their own bags. So I conducted a survey at my work and researched some recent national polls to find out what Canadians think.

Percentages on High School Drop-Outs

Over the years society has changed and with it the average IQ. After extensive research we discovered a pattern of why the IQ has dropped. Over the years the number of dropouts has increased. Life experiences have taught us that education improves one's lot in life. To support the notion, a large and continually growing body of evidence exists that suggests the more education, the better, especially when it comes to making a smooth transition into the workforce.

Around the world, teens are heeding the advice to stay in school. As more and more young people complete high school and postsecondary education, educational attainment continues to grow in most economically developed countries. In Canada, school attendance rates for 15-19 year-olds peaked at around the 82% to 84% range in recent years, up considerably from 25 years earlier when only two-thirds of teens in this age bracket were attending school. In fact, from 1979 to 2004, the teen population fell by 13% (as the baby boomers left this group), but the number of teenagers in school was up almost 10%.

This graph shows who is dropping out and the relations to IQ.

Top 100 DJs

For the electronic music lover, there is one top 100 poll that leads the pack with little competition, the DJ mag top 100. I've known that the poll was dominated by trance DJs from mainly the Netherlands for over a decade, but the results were even more astounding. As a DJ I've wondered what the genre breakdown was, and making this info-graphic was a great way to find that out, and share it with the world. Dubstep currently has been making a huge movement all over the world but it hasn't taken a seat at the top 100. It takes a DJ with quite the following and reputation to make this poll, and it hasn't happened in of couple years.

"Tea Trivia" Infographic

Tea, the long-time rival of coffee, is widely served but often misunderstood. True 'tea' comes from the plant Camellia Sinensis and naturally contains varying amounts of caffeine (depending on the the type). Herbal 'tea' is actually not a true tea and should properly be referred to as an herbal infusion as herbal teas come from a variety of plants not including Camellia Sinensis. And that's just the tip of tea trivia! Read the infographic below for more interesting information on the delicious drink known as tea.
The Colour of Tea is a great place to find out even more for the avid tea lover or the curious taster.

Myth-o-graphic

Sheldon Chow's infographic based on the show Mythbusters. Having watched the show since almost the beginning, missed the first rocket car myth, it was the obvious choice for something with stats being a science show and all. I attempted to follow the blueprint sections of the show where they explain certain items around the myth.
